De Traxxas XL-5 is een volledig waterdichte elektronische snelheidsregelaar voor elektrische RC-auto’s. Deze landversie is geschikt voor voorwielaandrijving en biedt drie gasprofielen: Sport, Race en Training. De ingebouwde tweetraps laagspanningsdetectie (LVD) beveiligt LiPo-accu’s tegen diepontlading. De regelaar is compatibel met 4- tot 7-cels NiMH-accu’s en 2S LiPo-accu’s (max. 7,4 V). Dankzij de thermische beveiliging schakelt de ESC uit bij oververhitting. De motorlimiet bedraagt 15 turns voor 540-motoren en 12 turns voor 550-motoren. De innovatieve waterdichte behuizing maakt rijden in natte omstandigheden mogelijk.
